První maják Copeland byla signální věž (na uhlí) z roku 1711 na Cross Island (známý také jako Old Lighthouse Island). Tento maják byl nahrazen roku 1796. Nový maják byl postaven v letech 1815 - 1884.
 
Das erste Copeland Leuchtturm war einer Signalturm (kohlen) vom Jahre 1711 am Cross Island (bekannt auch unter Nahme Old Lightnouse Island). Dieser war im Jahre 1796 ersetzt. Neuer Leuchtturm war zwischen Jahren 1815 - 1884 erbaut. / The first Copeland Lighthouse was a coal beacon on Cross Isd (also known as Old Lighthouse Isd) from c.1711. This was replaced in 1796 by a lighthouse on the same site. A new lighthouse was established on Cross Isd from 1815 to 1884.
